Rumours of Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani’s separation began swirling after the latter missed his mother-in-law Hema Malini’s 75th birthday celebration, which saw many Bollywood stars in attendance. Months following the birthday bash, Esha and Bharat officially confirmed their separation through a joint statement. Despite the current challenges Esha and Bharat face, their relationship wasn’t always strained. In a previous interview, Esha described them as being ‘thick as thieves’ and praised Bharat for his unwavering support during her pregnancy.
Esha and Bharat exchanged vows on June 29, 2012. In 2017, during Esha’s godh bharai ceremony, they remarried following Sindhi tradition, with Esha pregnant with their first daughter Radhya. In a 2017 interview with Mumbai Mirror, Esha spoke fondly of their bond, stating, “Over the last five years, Bharat and I have become as thick as thieves. Since I’m pregnant, I’m prone to mood swings now but he’s tolerated them and is extremely protective. He’s also my best critic, encouraging me in everything I do. At the risk of sounding filmi, I’ll say I wouldn’t want to change anything, life is beautiful!”
Reflecting on their remarriage, she mentioned, “This time it’s a Sindhi priest who speaks Hindi too, so my in-laws will at least understand what is being said.”
On February 6, 2024, Esha and Bharat issued a joint statement to Delhi Times, announcing their separation. It reads, “We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children is and will be of utmost importance to us. We’d appreciate our privacy is respected.”
Apart from Radhya, Esha and Bharat are parents to Miraya, who is four years old.
