Actor Vijay Sethupathi often receives many compliments, not just about his work, but also about his personality and humble demeanour. However, there is one label that the Merry Christmas actor doesn’t want to be attached to his name. During the promotion of the Sriram Raghavan film, he told one of his fans not to call him a “simple man.”

At a Bollywood Hungama event, when a fan told Sethupahi that she was in awe of his simplicity, he gently told her, “Sab log aise bolte hain, aisa kuch nahi hai (Everybody says this, but it is not true). This is comfortable for me (pointing towards his peach shirt and trousers). If I could wear a coat or a blazer, I would have worn that, but I am comfortable in this.”

The actor emphasised, “This is not simplicity. All of this is expensive.” Sethupathi, who is gradually gaining prominence among the Hindi-speaking regions of the country, clarified that he is not doing any “drama” by attending events in simple clothes. That is his way of living.

He added, “They have been looking at me and telling me that I am very simple. But this is not the case. I do not even do drama. I am really comfortable in this. If I would be comfortable in a blazer and the James Bond hat, I would wear that and come. I don’t want this label on me, please.”

Vijay Sethupathi’s latest release, Merry Christmas is his third Hindi film after Santosh Sivan’s Mumbaikar and Atlee Kumar’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan. He was also seen in the Hindi web series, Farzi, also starring Shahid Kapoor.

In one of his other interviews, the actor also reasoned that he doesn’t make many public appearances in fear of overexposing himself, leading to his audience not connecting with his characters.
