Late actor Rishi Kapoor often made news for his blunt personality; the actor was known to speak his mind and not mince words about any subject he felt strongly about. It was seemingly due to this aspect of his personality that former actor Varsha Usgaonker was a bit reserved on the sets of their 1992 film Honeymoon.
Varsha had recently appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show with 80s divas Sangeeta Bijlani and Mandakini, where she got candid about collaborating with Kapoor.
Stating that she had presumed him to be arrogant, the actor mentioned, “I did the film Honeymoon with Rishi Kapoor. I was very excited about the film and to work with him as he was Raj Kapoor’s son. But I always found him arrogant and never spoke to him much. We used to barely speak on the sets like ‘Hi, how was your day?’ or ‘Today the weather is good.’ Surendra ji would push me to go speak to him but I couldn’t. Later, when I read his biography Khullam Khulla, he mentioned all his heroines and also my name in there. This made me feel amazing.”
Honeymoon had received a mixed reaction upon its release at the time. Besides Kapoor and Varsha, the movie also starred Ashwini Bhave, Kader Khan, Bindu and Shakti Kapoor among others. It was helmed by Surendra Mohan and was a remake of the Marathi feature Kiss Bai Kiss.
Rishi Kapoor went on to act in numerous films post the 1992 release. His last feature was the Prime Video movie Sharmaji Namkeen. Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020 after battling cancer for a while.
