Sudha Murty says she is adventurous in her work, but not food. The author and philanthropist says whenever she travels out of the country, she carries her own bag of food and cooking items. Sudha Murty, in the latest episode of Khaane Mein Kaun Hai?, said she is a pure vegetarian and hence one of the biggest worries of her is the possibility of the same spoon being used for both vegetarian and non-veg food items.

“I am adventurous in my work, not in my food. I am in fact scared. I am a pure vegetarian, I don’t even eat eggs, or garlic. What I am scared of is, is that the same spoon will be used for both, vegetarian and non vegetarian food. It weighs on my mind a lot! Hence when we go out, I only search for veg restaurant. Or, I carry one bag full of eatables. I carry ready-to-eat stuff, that you have to just heat in water, I carry poha.”

Sudha Murty said she also has a cooking bag, which comes with a “small cooker” which she uses to cook food. Ironically, she would often pull her grandmother’s legs for never eating outside and travelling with food items, something she has started to do herself.

“When my grandmother would travel, 60 years ago, I would joke with her that why do you carry eating items with you, why can’t you eat outside. She would tell me she is used to it! Now, I behave like her! If I go to any country, it doesn’t matter, I carry my own food,” she added.

Sudha Murty is married to Infosys co-founder and businessman Narayan Murthy. Their daughter Akshata is the wife of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
