Actor Sara Ali Khan’s videos of traveling in Mumbai’s autorickshaws and strolling along Bandstand with her friend have given her the image of being a very relatable celebrity. Sara says that this is something that the public wants these days.
The actor in an interview with Vogue India shared the reason behind her not carrying the aura of a celebrity during her time outside the film sets.
“In today’s day and age, I don’t know if an aspirational, elusive, star-like aura is firstly possible or even necessarily connecting. People are seeking honesty and authenticity from celebrities. Whether it’s going to the airport with freshly washed hair and not doing my hair and make-up unless it’s absolutely necessary, I really am who I am,” said Sara.
The actor added, “I wear my honesty with more pride than any designer clothes. In fact, I don’t have a single pair of designer clothing in my wardrobe. I know people initially judged me for it but I’m happy that they can now not only appreciate but also identify with me because of these very reasons.”
In June, during an interaction with paparazzi on the red carpet of an award function, Sara Ali Khan discussed how she doesn’t wish to spend Rs 400 for a single day for international roaming. The video had gone viral, with fans discussing how she thinks like a regular person.
Sara said, “This time Vicky (Zara Hat Ke Zara Bach Ke co-star Vicky Kaushal) and I had to coordinate. And I also had to coordinate with my producer Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan), and he literally sent me a voice note in the morning, saying, ‘Roaming comes for Rs 400, can you please got it.” The actor, however, went against the advice. ”I am too busy taking hotspots from my hairdresser, and I still don’t have roaming yaar. I mean I should not behave like this,” she added.
Sara Ali Khan has an interesting lineup of films including Ae Watan Mere Watan, Murder Mubarak, Metro…In Dino and Mission Eagle.
