Saira Banu remembers Mohammed Rafi on his birth anniversary: ‘A blend of melody, emotion, and energy’

Veteran actor Saira Banu shared a heartfelt note on social media, remembering late singer Mohammed Rafi on his birth anniversary.

Veteran actor Saira Banu took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note about legendary singer Mohammed Rafi on his 100th birth anniversary. In the note, Banu mentioned how Rafi’s voice was “a blend of melody, emotion, and energy.” She also shared what her husband and actor Dilip Kumar said about the singer.

Along with a throwback photo of the two, Banu wrote on her Instagram Story, “Mohd. Rafi Sahab, the genius of Indian playback singing, was a voice of magic a blend of melody, emotion, and energy that touched countless hearts. As Dilip Sahab beautifully said, ‘With Rafi Bhai, it was mystical bonding, as though he was part of me practically my own voice.'”

The note further read, “His ability to adapt is singing to every mood and character made him a legend like no other. A brother to me and the voice of an angel to the rest of the nation Rafi Sahab will forever be remembered. Happy Birth Anniversary!”

Dilip Kumar and Mohammed Rafi worked together on the song “Madhuban Mein Radhika Naache Re” from the film Kohinoor, and he often used to be the former’s playback voice. In addition, he also sang a duet with Saira Banu once. They worked together on the track “Aaj Ki Raat Yeh Kaisi Raat Ki Humko Neend Nahin Aati” from the film Aman (1967).

Mohammed Rafi passed away on July 31, 1980.
