Actor Sagarika Ghatge and former cricketer Zaheer Khan have been married for eight years. In a recent interaction, the Chak De! India actor revealed that Zaheer was initially skeptical about her and kept his distance. However, with actor Angad Bedi playing Cupid, the two eventually decided to give their relationship a try, leading to their marriage in 2017.
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Sagarika shared that Zaheer was hesitant to talk to her because of the impression he had of her. She said, “I think we kept meeting, and he wouldn’t even talk to me at first because everyone used to say, ‘You know, she’s that kind of girl.’ I don’t know exactly what they meant by that—maybe that you should only talk to her if you are really serious; otherwise, there’s no point.”
Sagarika, however, was impressed by Zaheer from their very first meeting and found him to be “a gentleman.” After overcoming the initial hesitation, they continued meeting often and grew closer. She credited Angad Bedi for playing a key role in bringing them together. “Angad Bedi also played a very important role in bringing us together,” she said.
Despite years of marriage, Sagarika shared that while the couple bonds over sports, they remain competitive and can’t be on the same team when playing paddle tennis. She said, “I always tell them, ‘I don’t want to be in Zac’s team because we will keep fighting!’ If anybody misses a shot, it’s like, ‘Oh, what is wrong with you?’ So, I prefer being on the other side!”
