The latest, unreleased episode of comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent has been in the midst of a controversy for the past week. Samay and the show’s guest judges, Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija, have been facing a lot of flak online after clips from the episode were shared online. FIRs have been filed against them for their alleged use of offensive language, and many celebrities have also expressed their opinions on the matter. Music composer AR Rahman and actor Vicky Kaushal made cryptic comments about the controversy at the music launch of their upcoming film Chhaava.

At the launch event, when Vicky asked Rahman to describe his music in three emojis, the composer said, “The one with the mouth closed.”  He added, “I think in the past week we have seen what all happens when the mouth opens.” As the crowd reacted positively, Vicky added, “Talk about roasting.”

Producer Boney Kapoor said that he does not endorse this kind of comedy and suggested self-censorship. According to India Today, he said, “What he did is something which I don’t endorse at all. There have got to be limitations. There has to be self-censorship also.” He added, “Within your home, you talk whatever you want to talk, but on social platforms, you need to be careful and you need to be disciplined.”

Actor Rajpal Yadav told Bollywood Bubble, “Aisa lagta hai ki yeh sasti popularity paane ke chakkar mein yeh kya hota ja raha hai humare yuva generation ko. Iss tarike ke log apne maa baap ko bhi nahi chodte. (Our young generation will do anything to get cheap publicity. These kind of people don’t even spare their parents.)”

Television actor Aly Goni pointed out that until a few days ago, everyone was praising Samay and now, everyone is against him. He shared on X, “They forced Samay to delete all the episodes of Latent.. not cool.. that 1 episode should have been deleted that’s it.. He has worked hard to make this show successful.. where everyone was praising him few days back now everyone is against him lol kya yaar.”

Previously, Vir Das, Manoj Bajpayee and Imtiaz Ali have all expressed their opinions on the controversial episode. The controversy began after a clip from India’s Got Latent was widely circulated on social media on Sunday. The objectionable video clip featuring Ranveer led to him apologising the next day. On Wednesday, Samay deleted all previous episodes of India’s Got Latent and said that he will fully cooperate with the authorities.
