Priyanka Chopra walked away from a film after director insisted on a private narration: ‘She said agar aap meri maa ke saamne narration nahi de sakte…’

Priyanka Chopra's mother, Madhu Chopra, revealed how she fiercely protected her daughter during the early days of her Bollywood career, saying that she would sit on film sets like a 'daayan' to keep a watchful eye.

Priyanka Chopra‘s mother, Madhu Chopra, recently spoke about her daughter’s journey in Bollywood. Madhu revealed the challenges Priyanka encountered early in her career and how she fiercely protected her every step of the way.

Madhu Chopra said, “In the beginning days of her career, I used to sit on sets like a daayan (witch) on film sets. She was very young and came from a very protective environment. We were outsiders and had heard that it is not a good place to be in. She is our only daughter, so we didn’t want to take any chances.”

Lauding her daughter for always being very decisive and secure, Madhu recalled how Priyanka Chopra once walked out of a film after the director insisted on a private narration. “I never faced a difficult situation; Priyanka would only make the decision. Once, a director told her he would give her a narration alone and asked me to step out. She walked out from there and refused to do the film, saying, ‘Agar aap meri maa ke saamne mujhe narration nahi kar sakte, aap samajhte he main film kar lungi? Nahi karungi.’ She was always very decisive, never feared losing a film, and there was always a plan B. She carved her path and walked on it.”

Madhu Chopra also recalled a lesson she taught Priyanka about valuing oneself. She said, “I always used to tell her that if you behave like a chawanni (25 cents), then people will see you like that. Make yourself a rupee, then people will also value you and not treat you like trash.”

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has Heads of State and The Bluff in her kitty. She is also reportedly a part of SS Rajamouli’s next film, which also stars Mahesh Babu.
