A day after Poonam Pandey’s official social media handle and her manager said that she had passed away, the actor shared a video on Instagram announcing that she is alive. She said, “I feel compelled to share something significant with you all – I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn’t claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women who stemmed from a lack of knowledge on how to tackle this.”

Poonam Pandey, whose manager has said that the actor died on Thursday, has been trending on social media since Friday.

Meanwhile, a video of a purported recent interview has now surfaced online featuring Pandey teasing her fans about an upcoming surprise news, but without further details. In the clip, shared by Instant Bollywood, she can be seen telling the reporter, “Aapke saamne ek itna bada news aane wala hai. Mujhe bahut accha lagta hai logo ko surprise karna. Jab voh samajhte hai yeh sudhar rahe hai, tab mujhe surprise karna aur bhi accha lagta hai. Toh ek bahut hi bada news aapke saamne aane wala hai (A big news is set to arrive before you soon. I like to surprise people. When people think that I have changed, I like to surprise them even more. So, a really big news is coming your way).”

Though there is no further information at the moment regarding what the big surprise was, the video has sparked mixed reactions on the internet, with some expressing sadness over her inability to share the news before her death, while others question the validity of the incident. However, all speculations are expected to cease once an official statement from her family is released.

The statement that appeared on her official Instagram handle on Friday read, “This morning is a tough one for us. Deeply saddened to inform you that we have lost our beloved Poonam to cervical cancer. Every living form that ever came in contact with her was met with pure love and kindness. In this time of grief, we would request privacy while we remember her fondly for all that we shared.”

Talking to The Indian Express, her manager Nikita said, “She died at her home in Uttar Pradesh.” Her team said in a statement, “We received a call from her family/team in the morning that she is no more, we are also trying to reach her family but unfortunately we haven’t been able to reach them which is why we are not releasing an official statement. As of now, all we know is she is no more and her body is at the moment in UP,” her team said in a statement.

A few days before the news of her death, Poonam had shared her pictures and videos from her trip to Goa. In one of the videos, she was seen striking a pose in a white and black outfit on a ship while security personnel escorted her.

Poonam Pandey was a popular yet controversial model. She got popular after she promised that she would strip if India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup final. She found a dedicated social media following over the years with her controversial statements and videos. Her short-lived marriage with Sam Bombay ended in domestic abuse charges. She was last seen in Kangana Ranaut-hosted OTT reality show Lock Upp.
