Gauri Khan says she lives a ‘simple life’ but is ‘not an early riser’: ‘I wake up at 10, because our house is awake at night’

Gauri Khan is a producer with husband Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, interior designer and, now she has entered the restaurant business as well. In a new interview, Gauri spoke about her routine and shared how she likes to live her “simple life.” Gauri said that her kids, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam are her priority and she likes to stay at home during the afternoon when AbRam comes back home from school for lunch.

In a chat with Curly Tales, Gauri shared her routine and said, “Well, I’m not an early riser. Because the house is awake at night. So, I wake up by 10.” Gauri then added, “I have my morning coffee, gym, lunch, work. Kids are my priority and Abram is home at lunch maybe by 3. So, spend some time with him, go to work and back home again for dinner. Simple life.” Shah Rukh is self-admittedly a night person.

When asked if there is a particular time by which she likes to come back home every evening, Gauri shared that she likes to finish her appointments by 7:30 every evening but added, “Each day is different. I have some appointments which have to be taken care of later in the day.”

Gauri and Shah Rukh have been married for over 32 years. While Gauri was not very keen about living in Mumbai in the beginning, she grew to love the city after Shah Rukh Khan became a superstar and they made their home Mannat. In the book My Life In Design’s foreword, Shah Rukh shared that Gauri donned the designer’s hat for Mannat because they were short on finances after buying the massive sea-facing property. He wrote, “The task of designing her own house, which was rather big, the appreciation of friends and the sheer determination to make sure that our home was what we always desired egged her on to learn new things. She trained herself to understand spaces and figure out how basic amenities, logistics and beauty come together to make a home.”
