While we wait for the official announcement of Zoya Akhtar’s Jee Le Zaraa, a film touted to be centered around female friends taking a road-trip together, Taapsee Pannu has presented a fresh narrative of female friendship and adventure with the release of the trailer for Dhak Dhak, produced by her Outsiders Films in collaboration with Viacom18 Studios. The film features an ensemble cast including Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Dia Mirza, and Sanjana Sanghi.
The trailer showcases these ordinary characters embarking on an extraordinary journey as they transform into bikers on a life-changing adventure to Leh’s Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable pass. The trailer begins with Shah’s character expressing her desire to visit Khardung La to Shaikh, who is a travel vlogger. As the video progresses, the women encounter Mirza, who is a housewife but also moonlights as a mechanic. They are joined by Sanghi’s character, who is seeking an adventure before marrying the man chosen by her parents. Together, the quartet sets out on an unforgettable adventure, overcoming various obstacles and forging a lifelong bond.
Dhak Dhak is directed by Tarun Dudeja. Taapsee Pannu, as a producer, aims to create films that are both meaningful and entertaining. Speaking about the film, she earlier said, “We have attempted to give audiences a visual experience that they have rarely seen on screen. Dhak Dhak narrates the story of four women who realise that freedom has to be owned and never given. Viacom18 Studios has been a crucial part of my journey in the film industry from Chashme Baddoor, Shabaash Mithu and now to Dhak Dhak. I am sure that this ride will be an enriching one.”
Dhak Dhak is set to hit theatres on October 13.
