Singer Armaan Malik has given back to trolls who were judging him ‘as a person’ after he called Ranbir Kapoor ‘the best actor of our generation.’ Ranbir’s latest outing, Animal, has become the most polarising film of the year. While many are hailing the film, critics and some moviegoers have panned it for being misogynist, gory and extremely violent.
After being trolled for hailing Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the film, Armaan took to X (previously known as Twitter) and wrote, ” “I hate that by just saying what I felt about somebody being the best actor, so many peeps are coming at me and judging me as person lol you guys really need to chill. I wrote that tweet in admiration of someone’s craft, and that was that. Kindly take your hate elsewhere. Thank you (namaste emoji).”
Malik has been lauding Animal ever since the film’s trailer was unveiled. On November 24, when the makers released Animal’s trailer, he wrote, “ANIMAL TRAILER. FREAKIN’ INSANE.” After watching the film in theatre, he took to X and praised Ranbir. He wrote, “#RanbirKapoor is the best actor of our generation. Period.”
The singer faced a lot of trolling after his tweet. A fan wrote, “Ew no armaan.” Another one wrote, “This is the worst tweet of our generation. Period.” Another commented, “Why?? just why ?? Bro I liked you.”
Animal is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is known for helming Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy, both of whom were called out for glorifying toxic masculinity. With Animal, Sandeep delivered an even more misogynist and gory film that has divided the audience.
