Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s renewed push to ‘swadeshi’, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has taken the lead. On Monday, Vaishnaw announced that he will move to Zoho software developed by an Indian IT multi-national firm based in Tamil Nadu. Zoho offers a suite of office-use software that competes with offerings from Microsoft. Vaishnaw urged all to follow the PM’s call to prioritise made-in-India products to strengthen local manufacturing and support the economy.

On Board

Days after the Supreme Court pulled up state pollution control boards for a large number of vacant posts, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Monday handed appointment letters to some scientists who will join the Central Pollution Control Board. At an event organised to mark the CPCB’s 51st foundation day, Yadav also inaugurated a new building with over 250-seat capacity and state-of-the-art laboratories to support the Board’s environment-monitoring responsibilities. The event also saw former CPCB chairpersons and member secretaries in attendance, who were felicitated on the occasion.

Working Overtime

A hectic week awaits Congress’s Bihar unit as the extended CWC meet is scheduled in Patna on Wednesday and a rally by party general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Motihari on Friday. The party’s state unit has been working overtime to ensure the best arrangements for the CWC meeting, including making arrangements for the boarding, lodging and travel of the delegates. The party office in Patna—Sadaqat Ashram —is also being spruced up for the meeting. The state unit, meanwhile, has dispatched a team to Motihari to make arrangements for Priyanka’s visit and rally, including the permissions required from the local administration.
