Kerala ex-MLA seeks boycott of Muslim eateries, booked for hate speech

A six-term MLA and a former chief whip in then Congress-led UPA government, George made the remarks while addressing Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan, an event held under the aegis of Sangh Parivar, on Friday.

Restaurants run by Muslims should be avoided because they used a certain “drop that causes impotence,” he claimed. “By sterilising men and women, they hope to seize the country,’’ he said.

At the event, George also repeated his earlier allegation that Muslims spit on food three times. “Why should we eat their spit? Their scholars say spit is perfume,” he alleged.

“Hindu and Christian women were reluctant to give birth to more babies. Muslim women are doing that very sincerely. I should congratulate them. They are moving towards the aim of seizing this Hindu rashtra. Both Hindu and Christian women should beget at least four babies,’’ he said.

Ruling CPI(M) and Opposition Congress criticised George and said he is trying to polarise the society.

In a statement, the CPI(M) state secretariat said George should retract his statement and tender an apology to the society. Opposition leader V D Satheesan of Congress sought stringent action. “The government should take stern action against such hate speeches,’’ he said.

Earlier, IUML leader P K Firoz had made a police complaint and demanded that George be booked. “George deliberately tried to insult the Muslim community and create fissures in Kerala,’’ Firoz said.
