Shiv Sena UBT president Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced that the party will take out a march to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters in South Mumbai on July 1 to protest against issues of fund irregularities, corruption and loot which the party claims to be happening in the civic body.
Uddhav said Sena UBT leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray will lead the protest march along with other senior leaders of the party.
Uddhav alleged that it’s been over a year that the term of the BMC administrator has expired, but no elections were being held. “I had a meeting with the former corporators of BMC from Mumbai. It’s been more than a year since the term of the administrator has expired. But no elections are being conducted. They do not have the guts to hold the elections despite one year. The ruling party wants to spend all the money which is in the fixed deposits of BMC and the money is being spent on several things for no reason, be it G20 or others.”
“Work in underway in the pretext of beautification. There is no one to protect BMC and hence in order to save the BMC and its fixed deposits which are being splurged, we will carry out a protest march to the BMC HQ on July 1, ” Uddhav said after holding a meeting with former BMC corporators of Shiv Sena.
Uddhav also alleged that at least funds worth Rs 8000 to Rs 9000 crore from the fixed deposit of BMC have been spent in wrong ways.
