Maharashtra Congress will undertake a review of all 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state from October 7 in a bid to finalise the party’s final list for the 2024 general elections as well as to decide on the seats to be shared with the alliance partners.

The party has already conducted the exercise twice.

The review will take place in divisional headquarters. The review for east Vidarbha will be in Nagpur and that of west Vidarbha will be in Amravati.

The review of western Maharashtra will be in Pune while that of Marathwada will be in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

Nasik will host the review meeting for north Maharashtra while that of Konkan will be in Navi Mumbai.

“The review process will be attended by senior leaders of those particular zones. Around two months have passed since the last review process. The party has decided to continue with the exercise in regular intervals as political situation keeps on changing,” said a senior Congress leader.

Party’s state unit chief Nana Patole was recently in New Delhi to discuss various organisational issues and upon his return, the review process has been announced.

Apart from reviewing the party position in the respective Lok Sabha constituencies, the party leaders will also be discussing on seat sharing formulas and winnability based on alliances.

“The election will be fought by INDIA front. We will have to share seats with our allies. We have to finalise how many seats will be shared by us and on which seats negotiations need to be held,” said the leader.

The opposition INDIA front, in its third meeting in Mumbai, had discussed about the need to finalise seat sharing arrangements at the earliest.

A special coordination committee for the same was also formed in that meeting. Following this, the Congress’ state leadership has decided to speed up the review process.
