Student dies by suicide in Hyderabad; was worried she would fail exams, say police

The police said Konda Divya, a first-year intermediate student, was not able to study well for the exams due to family problems and was stressed.

A 17-year-old student in Hyderabad died by suicide at her home in Madhapur on Monday afternoon, the police said, adding that she was depressed and stressed over her exams.

According to Madhapur Police Sub-Inspector Deekshita, Konda Divya, a first-year intermediate student, was found dead by her mother Kavitha at around 12.10 pm. Though Divya was rushed to a private hospital, she was declared as brought dead by doctors.

The Madhapur police registered a case of suspicious death and started an investigation.

During the preliminary investigation, the police said they found out that Divya was depressed and died by suicide when she was alone at home. She was not able to study well for the exams due to family problems and feared that she would fail the exams, the SI said. The exams start on Wednesday.

This is the fifth student suicide being reported from Telangana in the last few weeks.
