Six youths assault family in road rage

Police said Gaurav Kumar was driving with his family towards Tilak Nagar when the incident occurred. A Xylo that behind them hit their car.

In yet another case of road rage in the capital, six youths allegedly assaulted a family in Southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area late on Sunday. Police said they have registered a case against the accused though no arrests have been made.

Police said Gaurav Kumar was driving with his family towards Tilak Nagar when the incident occurred. A Xylo that behind them hit their car.

“Kumar stopped the car and raised objection. The youths then began verbally abusing the family, who alleged that the six were drunk. They then slapped Kumar and assaulted his sisters. They also whipped out an iron rod and smashed the glass windows of Kumar’s car. They even wielded a gun to frighten the family,” a senior officer said.

“Passersby rushed to help and the youths fled in their car. Kumar, however, had noted the registration number of the car. We then traced the car and have detained two persons for questioning,” DCP (Southwest) R A Sanjeev said.
