The Ghaziabad police are interrogating officials of Punjab National Bank’s Modinagar branch after Rs 64 lakh was stolen from two adjacent ATM machines half an hour after they were filled on Saturday evening.

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad police are interrogating officials of Punjab National Bank’s Modinagar branch after Rs 64 lakh was stolen from two adjacent ATM machines half an hour after they were filled on Saturday evening. Senior police officers said the cash could not have been withdrawn without the master code of the ATM machine which is divided in to two parts and given to two officers. “The cash could not have been taken out with the help of someone who knows the code as there was no breakage or signs of force. We are investigating the case,” said SP (Rural) Capt M M Baig.

Man throws acid on friend’s family

New Delhi: A 40-year-old carpenter allegedly barged into his colleague’s East Delhi residence and threw acid on the latter’s family members — including a seven-year-old girl,on Saturday afternoon. Officials said Amarjeet Singh had sought his friend Naresh Kumar’s help to cure his sexual problems. “Kumar took him to a quack for treatment but it did not help. So Singh decided to take revenge,” said a senior police officer. Both Kumar and Singh work in Dallupura wood market in Kalyanpuri. The incident was reported around 2 am from Trilokpuri’s Block-3. Kumar’s mother Ramwati (65),sister-in-law Kiran (25) and daughter (7) were injured in the attack and were taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Singh has been arrested and booked for trespassing and causing grievous hurt.
