Lieutenant General B S Jaswal,General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C),Army Training Command (ARTRAC),Shimla,will take charge of the Northern Command on Thursday. He will be replaced by Lieutenant General A S Lamlia,currently serving as Chief of Staff (COS) at ARTRAC.
Lt General Jaswal was commissioned into the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in December 1970 and has had an illustrious career spanning 39 years.
He has also commanded a Corps in the counter insurgency operations in the North East. For his outstanding achievements in the command appointments,he has been decorated three times. On Wednesday,the General and his wife Ritu Jaswal were given a warm send-off on their departure from Shimla.
BRO gets new director general
Lieutenant General M C Badhani took over as Director General,Border Roads Organisation (DGBR) on Tuesday. He succeeded Lieutenant General A K Nanda. Lt Gen Badhani is the 20th DGBR since the establishment of the organisation in 1960. He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy,Khadakvasla,Pune; Defence Services Staff College,Wellington; College of Defence Management,Secunderabad; and National Defence College,New Delhi. The officer was commissioned into Bengal Sappers in November 1971. In his 38 years of service,Badhani has held varied command,instructional and staff appointments.
