The police on Friday sent the 14 activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) arrested in Surat a day earlier,to judicial custody.

They were arrested after they disallowed a Syndicate meeting at Vir Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) and demanded the resignation of Vice-Chancellor B A Prajapati.

ABVP recently came out with a list of the 25 ‘most-corrupt’ vice-chancellors in India and Prajapati and Gujarat University Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi have been mentioned on the list.

ABVP has launched an agitation against Trivedi for about a month and has sought his resignation.

Previously,ABVP activists have written to the state government about the alleged “irregularities” and “corrupt practices” of the two university heads and have submitted memoranda to Governor Kamla Beniwal in this regard.

In Ahmedabad,ABVP activists have pasted pamphlets and stickers on state government buses against Trivedi.

ABVP representative Kunal Shah said their movement will continue against the two V-Cs till the state government took action against them.
