This was Indian Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone's first official Hollywood red carpet, and we all had our eyes on her. Dressed in an edgy swamp green creation by Monisha Jaising, complemented with Valliyan jewellery and a pair of Balmain heels, the xXx: Return of Xander Cage actor looked amazing. So, when Daily Mail called her a Bollywood Blunder and slotted her in the list of worst dressed, we couldn't help but cry out in protest.
The 30-year-old Bollywood diva attended the MTV EMA awards at Rotterdam this year and even co-presented the Best Video Award with fellow xXx actress Nina Dobrev to the Canadian artiste The Weeknd.
Padukone cut a fine figure in that thigh-high slit trail skirt, in military green and olive hues, which she teamed up with an embellished bodice and matching bomber jacket. Going by the style trend on the EMAs red carpet, it's possible the said publication couldn't appreciate a dress that wasn't sheer. As designer Anju Modi said about her look, "they (international media) should understand the Indian sensibility. It is great that Deepika decided to wear an Indian designer”. But Padukone aside, there really were many fashion blunders that were made on the Dutch red carpet, and we've selected a few of them. Tell us if you agree (or even if you don't!). Chloe Ferry wore a completely see-through dress with a bra and granny pants under the lacy coverlet. The reality TV star left very little to the imagination as she showed off almost every inch of her curves. (Source: Reuters)
Singer Charli XCX walked the red carpet wearing a pink piece that should be sent back in time to the 1970s, and even then be locked up in a trunk. The pink-sequinned two-piece was a disaster, and to add insult to injury, she paired it with a matching fur shawl. Now, if the latter was cotton candy, we still could have forgiven the fashion faux pas! (Source: Reuters)
Ex On The Beach's Charlotte Dawson channelled a very old-world gaudy look with this nude sheer (of course) halter-neck, with a huge black patch just on the torso. And we won't even start on that hair updo! (Source: Reuters)
Social media star Kenz looked like she just picked up the trimmings off someone's drapes and wove them all together. The curtain-style fringes in baby pink simply looked outrageous. Though, if we're being really kind, then the neck styling has a tad bit of potential to be reworked into another dress. (Source: Reuters)
British singer Anne-Marie fell in line with the sheer theme of the evening, but the harsh-mesh mini dress with a pair of clumpy Doc Martins and choker neckpiece just smacked of 'dom' more than anything else. (Source: Reuters)
Now, where do we start with singer Tallia Storm's see-through top, teamed with a short skirt and thigh-high baby blue(!) boots? Let's just say, we LOVE the make-up and stop at that. (Source: Reuters)
Though we cannot completely write off German model Stefanie Giesinger's sheer gown with lace underlay since it does have some nice elements (like the lace and hemline), but the overall effect of the gown was more off than complimentary. (Source: Reuters)
