Kovind was welcomed by UP governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. During the function at Paraunkh, Adityanath announced a medical college to be set up in Kanpur Dehat.
"For me, Paraunkh is not only a village, it is my 'maatribhoomi' (motherland) from where I get inspiration to serve the country," Kovind said. He said he never imagined an ordinary village boy could occupy the highest post in the country, and thanked the people of the village.
