President-elect Donald Trump will use his Bible, given to him by his mother, alongside the Lincoln Bible for his swearing-in on January 20, the inaugural committee announced on Friday.

Trump, the 45th and soon-to-be 47th president of the United States, will be inaugurated in Washington on Monday. Due to freezing weather, the ceremony has been moved indoors from the Capitol steps, where he was first sworn in eight years ago.

As per a report by PTI, it was in 1955, when Trump received this Bible to commemorate his Sunday Church Primary School graduation at First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, New York.

The Bible, a 1953 revised standard version published by Thomas Nelson and Sons in New York, is embossed with his name on the lower portion of the front cover.

The inside cover is signed by church officials and inscribed with the president’s name and the date it was presented, according to a media release.

In addition to Trump’s Bible, the Lincoln Bible will be used for this historic ceremony.

The President-elect will place his hand on a Bible and recite the 35-word presidential oath, administered by Chief Justice John Roberts: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States.”

The Lincoln Bible was first used on March 4, 1861, for the inauguration of the 16th president. It has since been used three times: by President Barack Obama at both of his inaugurations and by President Trump at his first inauguration in 2017.

The burgundy velvet-bound book is part of the collections of the Library of Congress.

Vice President-elect JD Vance will use a family Bible that belonged to his maternal great-grandmother, the inaugural committee said.

“His ‘Mamaw’ Bonnie presented it to him on September 22, 2003, the day he left home for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Paris Island, South Carolina. The Bible is a King James Version published by Thomas Nelson and Sons,” the committee said.
