Stock exchanges in both India and the US will remain closed on Good Friday.
In India, BSE and NSE will suspend trading across all segments.
In the US, NYSE and Nasdaq will be closed on April 18, resuming operations on Monday, April 21, as per USA Today.
The US bond market will close early at 2 pm ET on Thursday, April 17, and stay shut on Friday, per the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA).
In the US, since Good Friday is not a federal holiday, most banks will remain open, though some may follow reduced hours. Customers should check with local branches.
In India, banks will be closed due to the gazetted holiday. States like Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar will see full bank closures. However, online services such as internet, SMS, and WhatsApp banking will remain available.
Most educational institutions in India will be closed on April 18. However, the extent of observance may vary by state, based on local customs and cultural relevance.
Being a gazetted holiday, Good Friday will see the closure of all central, state, and local government offices in India, including post offices and public-sector institutions.
The Delhi Excise Department has declared April 18 a dry day, prohibiting the sale of alcohol in all licensed liquor outlets, bars, and restaurants.
