Indian Air Force Day 2025: India celebrates Air Force Day annually, on October 8, to commemorate the establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF).
In 2025, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will commemorate its 93rd Air Force Day on Wednesday, 8 October, honouring the IAF’s courage, sacrifice, and bravery, with the theme centring on the force’s contribution to Operation Sindoor, as reported by ANI.
Established on October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force (IAF) marked the beginning of a vision for air power that would shape the nation’s defence for decades to come, with the IAF’s first operational flight taking to the skies on April 1, 1933.
While it initially consisted of a small number of aircraft and personnel, over the decades, it has evolved into the world’s fourth-largest air force, playing crucial roles in various military operations and humanitarian missions.
The 93rd celebrations will feature a farewell tribute to the legendary MiG-21 and a grand flypast showcasing the Rafale, Su-30MKI, C-17 Globemaster, C-130J Super Hercules, Apache Guardian, Netra AEW&C, and the Tiranga Formation finale.
Additionally, the day will feature grand parades, air shows, and exhibitions that highlight the technological advancements and operational readiness of the IAF.
The parade will be held at Hindon Air Base, one of India’s largest and most crucial airbases, and was earlier conducted in Chennai (2024) and Prayagraj (2023).
Although the Air Force Day parade will be staged at Hindon, the flypast is expected to occur in Guwahati in mid-November.
