In recent years, many Indian skaters have made their mark in the world of limbo skating. Most recently, Manasvi Vishal from Pune secured the Guinness World Record for “lowest limbo skating over 25 m”. Manasvi achieved this feat after she held herself just 16.5 centimeters from the ground as she glided for a stretch of 25 meters.
Limbo skating is a sport in which a person roller skates under an obstacle like a horizontal pole without touching it.
Manasvi got interested in limbo skating journey when she was just three and a half years old. After that, she spent a year preparing for her Guinness World Record attempt. While Manasvi achieved her record on July 29 this year, her record was only verified by the Guinness World Records in October.
On Thursday, the Guinness World Records shared a video of her record attempt on Instagram. This clip has over seven lakh likes so far. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “👏👏 Now that’s a worthy record title, not records like “Fastest time to type using the nose or “Most nails hammered with the head in one minute”. Another person wrote, “Bro I can’t even skate straight”.
In July this year, Shrishti Dharmendra Sharma, an 18-year-old skater from India, made a new world record for the ‘fastest time to limbo skate over 50 metres’ as she covered this distance in just 6.94 seconds. With this, she shattered the previous record of 7.38 seconds that she made in 2021.
In May 2017, Tiluck Keisam from Manipur made the world record for “farthest distance limbo skating under bars” after skating up to 145 metres (475 ft 7 in) beneath poles that were just 30 centimetres high.
In August 2016, six-year-old Om Swaroop Gowda, achieved a new record for the “Farthest distance limbo-skating under cars” as he skated under 36 cars and covered a distance of 65.283 metres.
