A parkour athlete from Austria has created a new world record for making the farthest standing sideways jump. Lorenz Wetscher created the record after he jumped a distance of 2.83 metre (9 feet, 3 inch) at Rum in Austria on May 13.

On Thursday, the Guinness World Records shared a video of Wetscher’s record-breaking jump. This clip gathered over 74,000 likes.

Commenting on this video, an Instagram user wrote, “My guy could be the best goal keeper”. Another person wrote, “That’s actually a pretty amazing human record ! Well done !”.

Wetscher first gained fame after he emerged as the winner of the first season of Big Bounce – The Trampoline Show in 2018. Since then, the 25-year-old has broken multiple parkour and athletics-related world records.

In May this year, he created the world record for the longest backward standing jump with a jump of 2.61 metre (8 ft 6 in). The previous record for the same title had not been broken in over 20 years, and Wetscher surpassed it by 60 cm.

In January 2022, Wetscher along with Stefan Dollinger, Quirin Somavilla, and Tobias Kahofer created the world record for doing the “most backflips in one minute (team)”. The three athletes together did 69 backflips–18 more than the previous record.
