With their sneaky paywalls, algorithms that seem off, and various hidden features, dating apps are kind of losing their charm these days. It is no wonder many of us give up on these apps within a month or so.
If they want to keep youths interested and actually help people make real connections, dating apps may seriously need to up their game. But hey, Tinder‘s getting there, it seems – check out this Instagram post by @ig_calcutta. The billboard in Kolkata features a Tinder advertisement, and it is a genius move, especially in a city where love for food reigns supreme. Who wouldn’t want a partner who appreciates good food?
The text of the billboard says, “Looking for a premika for Reo,” and then goes on to list his best qualities – all apparently shared by Reo’s bestie Anchal, who’s on a mission to help him find love.
The list mentions Reo’s talent for finding the best phuchka spots in town, his knack for taking endless candid photos, and his skills in making kathi rolls – just like the ones on Park Street. Plus, there’s a QR code you can scan to check out his social profiles if you are interested. Talk about modern romance, right?
The caption on @ig_calcutta’s post sums it up perfectly: “What can we say… If Reo can make the perfect Kathi Roll, he deserves a premika! Who’s up for a phuchka date?”
And the comments are pure gold. Hooked by the ad, one person asked, “Hey, where’s Reo hiding?”, while another netizen posted, “Tinder’s really going for the casual approach with their promotion, huh?”
“Anchal, please be my friend and set me up too, ’cause mine are useless,” said another hilarious post.
