A man from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked outrage after a video surfaced on social media showing him performing a dangerous stunt on railway tracks. Identified as Ranjit Chaurasia, the young man lay on the tracks and purportedly allowed a train to pass over him in an attempt to go viral.

In a video shared by journalist Sachin Gupta on X, Chaurasia is seen lying on his stomach, holding a mobile phone, and waiting for a train to pass over him. The footage then captures the underside of the train. The video shows Chaurasia rising in a slow-motion moment.

“The name of this ‘reel-son’ is Ranjit Chaurasia. He lay on the tracks, let an entire train pass over him. Properly made a reel of it. Now the ‘reel-son’ is arrested and going to jail,” the caption in Hindi read.

The video quickly gained traction, garnering over 8 lakh views and igniting a backlash.

Several social media users demanded strict action against Chaurasia. “They have so much courage, they shouldn’t be in Jail, they should be given army training and send to the border. They will learn discipline and will be useful for the country,” a user wrote. “This kind of reckless behavior for social media attention is not only dangerous but also a threat to one’s own life. He survived, but the risks are far too high. The consequences are irreversible,” another user commented.

Many users pointed out that the video might have been edited and suggested that Chaurasia may not have actually lain on the railway track. “This is edited, he didn’t actually do this. Any 7 yr old kid would have probably noticed this,” a user chimed in.

In August last year, the Railway Protection Force arrested a YouTuber for jeopardising public safety by illegally tampering with railway tracks for publicity. The viral video showed the YouTuber putting objects, including a bicycle, on the railway tracks in Uttar Pradesh.
