Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding festivities have set social media on fire. Julia Hackman Chafe, a US TikToker, content creator and “jewellery influencer”, recently caught everyone’s attention when she got an invite to the wedding. Chafe made many videos around the wedding in the last few months.
After sharing videos about losing her luggage during her journey to India, Chafe also made videos of her trying on some luxury traditional outfits. She showed off each outfit before heading to the fancy wedding.
In a video titled, “Trying on dresses for the Ambani wedding,” she says, “When I first got invited, the first person I called was Hema Bose. She’s a fashion powerhouse and you have to see what she sent me.”
Showing numerous boxes and bags, Chafe says, “What am I gonna do with all this?” She then unboxes the clothes and realises how intricate the work is on the lehenga. She applauds Indian women saying they are strong (for wearing the heavy lehengas for hours).
After wearing a lehenga, she says, “My back is gonna go out,” and is visibly struggling to breathe. “Look how beautiful this is,” she says as she wears the lehengas.

The lehengas have delicate floral motifs embroidered on them. She acknowledges how fascinated she is by all the work on the clothes and says she can’t believe Indian women have been doing this for years without getting the credit they deserve. She tries on numerous lehengas in many colours.
She also shared a video of herself getting all dolled up for the Ambani wedding. The video is titled, “Getting my makeup done for the Ambani wedding.”
As the makeup artist begins her work on Chafe’s face, she says how thrilled she is to meet the Bollywood celebs. “I know everything about everyone,” she says with a grin. “I went through a 35-page PowerPoint on them!”
She also shared her entire look from the first night of the wedding on Friday. Dressed in a shimmering white lehenga, and pairing it up with a golden purse, she gave a twirl to showcase the elegance of her outfit.
As for social media users, they’re loving every little detail she’s sharing from the wedding.
