A recent discussion on Reddit, initiated by a user from Bengaluru, has sparked interest among food delivery fans. The user recommended that choosing cash on delivery (COD) on Zomato and Swiggy might lead to quicker and a more “premium experience” at no additional cost.
According to u/steve7evans, opting for cash on delivery (COD) could give your order a higher priority compared to others, including those who pay for premium subscriptions. The Redditor stated, “The user experience remains exactly the same — once the order is delivered, you can pay via any UPI app, wallet, or saved card through the app.”
The user also pointed out another potential benefit – enhanced access to customer support. They suggested, “Using COD could increase your chances of being connected to a human representative, especially if there are delays or issues with the order,” implying that this payment method may alleviate the frustrations often associated with chatbots.

The post on Reddit led to a lively discussion, with numerous users recounting their encounters with COD and food delivery. Several users concurred with the tip.
One user shared a personal experience in the comments section. He wrote, “I once ordered from a restaurant 500m away and paid online. Zomato clubbed my order with someone else’s and the delivery partner travelled 5 km away from my location to deliver the other order first just because it was COD.” Another user commented, “I’m definitely going to try this from now on.”
However, not everyone agreed. While one user said, “I don’t see any real difference, it’s probably just luck,” another user wrote, “COD can sometimes cause delays, especially when the delivery person struggles with payment apps.”
