Good music can surpass all language barriers and the latest example of this can be seen in a video where a singer has seamlessly translated a Hindi Bollywood song into Tamil.
Instagram user Shruthi Shankar (@Shroosings) shared a Tamil version of What Jhumka?, a song by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi from Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
Shakar shared her melodious rendition on Instagram. She wrote, “I channeled my inner @samyu.mohan and my extended shower thought became a cover of the latest earworm Don’t cringe too much at the lyrics ok, and tell me if you liked it ”.
This video has gathered over 1.4 lakh likes since it was posted on August 9. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Maybe it’s a grass is greener situation. But as a Punjabi guy…Tamil just sounds way more beautiful and hits me in the roots.”
Another person wrote, “Stunning. The transition into Tamil lyrics was as smooth as it could get. Very good Tamil lines as well. ”.
This is not the first time that a singer has turned a Hindi song into a different language.
In January, a singer named Kush, who goes by his Instagram username @himhansmusic, posted a multilingual cover of Kesariya in which he seamlessly transitioned from Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil.
Similarly, in 2017, singer Srushti Barlewar posted a cover of the international hit Despacito in which she sang the Spanish song in three different languages — Spanish, English, and Hindi.
