Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a heartfelt post about her mother.
The 47-year-old shared a photo of her mother Shibani Bagchi and dedicated a heart-warming post to her for “no special reason except the fact that in the ordinary she taught us to be extraordinary”.
She said being mindful as a “young nation”, we need to deal with the fact that we have ageing parents. “I am hopeful in the pursuit of our ambitions and dreams we also prepare to care for those who didn’t limit their parenting to birthing us,” she said.
Irani said it is important to realise that parents have a budget to deal with and as kids threw a fit, they were “patient as much as they could to withstand our tantrums”. She requested people reading the post to just make time to say hello to their parents, have a chat, say “you love them for who knows how long we have”.
Since being shared, the post has received more than 10,000 likes.
“My mother is my life, I don’t have any siblings and my father passed away unexpectedly two years back. I agree 100 percent with you Smriti Mam. Precious picture. Your Mom is so beautiful and pretty like you,” a user commented. “Beautifully penned for a beautiful mother, Stay blessed,” said another. “She’s beautiful just like you,” wrote a third. “Such a beautiful post …..parents are precious and the tragedy is we can’t have them forever,” another netizen posted.
