Shark Tank India judge and Sugar Cosmetics CEO Vineeta Singh reacted to her fake death and arrest reports. On April 20, Singh, in a post made on  X, clarified she has been dealing with ‘paid PR’ who are spreading these rumours. She also mentioned the hardest part triggered by these reports was people calling her mother to check on her.

Sharing a few screenshots of fake reports claiming her death and arrest, Singh said the ordeal has been going on for five weeks, that she ignored it initially and later reported to Meta–the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp–several times. She said she filed a complaint with the Mumbai police too, but the rumours have not stopped.

Take a look at the post here:

Responding to Singh’s post, Mumbai police offered help. “Ma’am, request you to DM us the details for us to help you better,” the official handle of Mumbai police wrote on X.

Singh’s fake reports of death and arrest, and her reaction to them caught the internet’s attention and triggered a myriad of reactions from social media users. “(T)his is so scary, hope things get sorted out soon!” a user commented. “There were few other (rumours) like Vineeta is bankrupt… I was (a) bit confused and then understood (it was) fake as it was on FB,” another user shared.

“That’s rough, Vineeta. Have you tried reaching out to a lawyer? Might be time to take some legal action against those troublemakers,” a third user wrote.

Earlier, Singh shared her journey and struggles of building her company Sugar Cosmetics. “After the show (Shark Tank India), our reach increased beyond the usual 18-35 years. Also, today men know about SUGAR too and that makes a huge difference as it impacts our overall business. And that makes me really happy,” she told indianexpress.com.
