On Tuesday, in Telangana’s Adilabad, the district police headquarters hosted a retirement ceremony for Tara, a loyal member of its dog squad. Tara, a Labrador Retriever known for her expertise in detecting explosives, has retired after 12 years of distinguished service, reports said.

In the video from the event, Tara is first draped with a marigold garland, prompting cheers from the gathered police team. A shawl was then placed over her to honor her service. As multiple shawls and garlands were added, the police team clapped and cheered for Tara. She basked in the admiration, enjoying the affectionate send-off.

According to reports, during her career, Tara played a vital role in maintaining safety by uncovering dangerous materials such as RDX, TNT, PEK, Cordex, and various types of ammunition. Her sharp senses and dedication were crucial in preventing potential threats, especially during high-profile events and VIP visits.
The ceremony was attended by Superintendent of Police Gaush Alam, who honored Tara with flowers and praised her invaluable contributions to the department. Tara’s handler Somanna highlighted their strong bond and shared achievements in keeping the district safe.
