A new food craze, ‘chocolate paratha’, has arisen, eliciting varied comments on social media. However, this unique fusion cuisine has sparked outrage among netizens worldwide.
Originating from the Indian subcontinent, paratha —a traditional flatbread—is typically savoury and filled with ingredients like spiced potatoes or paneer. Yet, in a departure from tradition, some food enthusiasts have begun experimenting with sweet fillings, including chocolate.
While ‘chocolate paratha,’ might sound enticing to those with a sweet tooth, the concept has been met with scepticism and outright disapproval from many online commentators. In the video shot by @yumyumindia, the cook at the food stall starts the preparation with the batter and forms it into a circular shape. Then, instead of potatoes or onions, it is stuffed with chocolate mix and fried in oil on a hot tawa, and the chocolate paratha is ready!
On social media platforms such as Instagram reactions to chocolate paratha have been swift and impassioned. Many users have expressed their distaste for the dish, with comments ranging from mild disdain to outright incredulity. Some have even shared humorous memes and gifs to convey their scepticism.
One user wrote,”dislike button is here———–>.” Another wrote, “In childhood mom used to make bread mixed with sugar.” A flurry of similar sentiments flooded the comment sections of posts featuring the controversial dish. “I have ruined my mood in the morning,” wrote another.
