Nagaland’s Minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along often uses his significant social media presence to promote tourism in his home state. On Monday, Along shared a small clip that gave a glimpse into the picturesque village of Zapami, located 53 km away from Nagaland’s capital Kohima.
While sharing this clip, Along wrote, “A journey that connects us to our roots, leaving us in awe of the rich history and culture.”
The video shows how the small village, surrounded by terraced rice fields, has preserved its history through a locally managed heritage museum. The Village Heritage Museum not only showcases the craftsmanship of the locals but also holds remnants from World War II.
The clip shared by Along was taken from a 15-minute YouTube video made by The Broke Traveler (@Modun_), a food and travel vlogger.
In January, Along had shared a similar video about a unique house in Nagaland that falls between India and Myanmar. The house, located in the Longwa village, has its sleeping quarters within the Indian border, while other rooms like the kitchen area fall in Myanmar.
Along with his consistent promotion of Nagaland tourism, the minister has also tweeted about responsible travel behaviour. In March, he shared a photo, reportedly taken in Shimla, that showed half-broken alcohol bottles discarded on the road. While sharing these photos, he urged people to not misuse local hospitality and requested tourists to dispose of waste responsibly.
