Diwali is here, and people in many parts of the country have begun celebrating the festivals with fireworks. A video showing a man lighting a small rocket by giving a voice command to Amazon’s Alexa device has gone viral.
Alexa, on hearing the man say “Alexa, launch the rocket,” responds with a smooth, “Yes, Boss, launching the rocket,” and we see the small rocket taking off. The video has sparked curiosity and amusement.

The video was shared on Instagram by Mani’s Projects Lab (manisprojectslab) with a caption that reads, “Launching the rocket with Alexa.” The video has gone viral and has been viewed by more than 13 million users.
Responding to the video, one user wrote, “Alexa rocked, humans shocked.” Another user said, “AI will take over.” Swiggy Instamart also commented on the post, “ai has gone too far (literally).”
A third user wrote, “I made this last year on diwali using an Arduino module which accepts the voice command and triggers a relay module. The relay module uses the concept of electromagnetism and acts as a digital switch. The switch is connected to nichrome wires which heat up to light the rockets.”
While one user wrote, “1000 missed calls from spaceX,” another said, “Elon Musk is on his way to your home.”
The video uploader also shared some videos showing the mechanism behind the launch.
To help others attempt this “launch,” the user has also posted a tutorial on YouTube.
