A Maithili song sung by two young girls is winning over the internet. The soulful song, being performed by two young girls on guitar, was posted online by an X user @Princejha1997.

While sharing their video, @Princejha1997 wrote that the song is titled ‘Badra’. The singers in the video are Divya and Jia Jha. In the post, @Princejha1997 write, “गीत के मेघ बला मौसम सं जोड़ि कऽ गीत गाओल गेल अछि, बढ़ियाँ क्रिएटिविटी !”. This loosely translates to, “The song is associated with the cloudy weather, great creativity!”.

On Tuesday, this clip was reposted by popular page @Bihar_se_hai and gained over 12,000 views. Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “Play it loud with proud Such a beautiful maithili song”. Another person remarked, “Wow wow wow This made my day ”. A non Maithili speaker wrote, “I don’t speak the language but I can listen to it for hours ”.

Maithili is one of the many languages spoken in Bihar and Jharkhand. It is also spoken widely in Nepal’s eastern Terai area.

Earlier this year, another singer from Bihar went viral due to his musical talent. Internet sensation Amarjeet Jaikar rose to fame after one of his videos was shared by actor Neetu Chandra Srivastava and Sonu Sood. He later developed the Bhojpuri version of the popular song ‘Pasoori’ and gained much praise. Soon after the self-taught singer was offered the chance to sing a song by Sonu Sood in his upcoming film, Fateh.
