A Kolkata eatery is selling ‘Roshogolla Roll’ but it’s not what you think

While the name suggests that it is made from roshogolla or rasgulla, a sweet that is famous in West Bengal, it is far from the case.

Instagram page @kolkatas.illusion posted the video that showed the vendor making the roll.

Kolkata is known for offering the best street food, including its egg and chicken rolls. Now, an eatery in the City of Joy is selling “Roshogolla Roll”.

While the name suggests that it is made from roshogolla or rasgulla, a sweet famous in West Bengal, it is far from the case. Instagram page @kolkatas.illusion posted the video that showed the vendor making the roll.

In the video, the vendor is seen rolling the dough and then putting it on a tawa. After mixing some roshogollas in a sauce, he sautés some vegetables and then puts them on the roll. He then adds the sauces and rolls the paratha. “Roshogolla Roll in Kolkata for the first time,” says the caption.

However, people who have eaten the roll at the eatery said the roshogolla used in it is made from “chanar kofta”.

“Hello, All. I personally tried this roll for this video and this almost tastes like a paneer roll we usually eat. They are using chanar kofta as Roshogolla which is not sweet at all. This place just named it Roshogolla Roll just because these koftas looks like Mini Roshogolla,” commented a user. “This is paneer kofta which is named as roshogolla. Dont panic guys,” said another.

However, many netizens took this as a literal thing and bashed the eatery in the comments.
