In Kerala, hit by avian flu two months ago that led to the death of over 30,000 birds and the culling of more than 100,000 birds, a man was seen performing the emergency life-saving procedure of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a bird that collapsed in the middle of the road.
Thanthi TV reported this unusual act of compassion that unfolded in Malppuram district with a caption in Tamil that read, “There is no sanctity beyond humanity – A person who saved a bird by giving it CPR – Viral video.”
The news outlet reported that the man identified as Shajir was seen performing CPR on a Myna bird, by pressing his thumbs onto its chest to help bring the heart beat back to rhythm. After a few minutes, the bird regained consciousness, as per the report.

As soon as the bird began fluttering its wings, the man gently cradled it in his hands, perhaps intending to offer a sip of water to cool its body. But just as he positioned the bird near a water-filled bucket, it vanished into the sky.
A similar scene unfolded in Uttar Pradesh back in May, where a police officer became an internet sensation by performing CPR on a monkey.
