In a widely circulated video that has surprised many, Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey, visibly upset during a meeting at the Kanpur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday, was seen throwing a file at an official, narrowly missing his face. The video captured her expressing anger and instructing the officer to leave, while scolding him in front of onlookers.

Pandey was upset because she received a report that gave wrong information. The video of the incident spread widely on social media, sparking varied reactions from the public.

The video was shared on X by @SaharaSamayUP. The caption the user gave in Hindi roughly translates to, “The mayor got angry after seeing the fraud in drain cleaning. Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey reprimanded the cleaning engineers in the meeting. The file was thrown in front of the engineer who was committing fraud in connivance with the contractor. Mayor Pramila Pandey had called a meeting of the officials in the Municipal Corporation..”

Pandey pointed out that there have been lapses in the duties of the municipal corporation employees, stated a report by Financial Express. She explained that during meetings, employees often point fingers at each other, and in response, she organised a meeting between the engineering and health departments so that weaknesses can be discussed and directives can be given.

The report by Financial Express also stated that the mayor warned the engineer that he would be responsible if the drains clogged this rainy season.

The video was also shared by the X handle of ANI UP/Uttarakhand.

Reacting to this video, one user wrote, “Looks like someone needs a better way to handle office stress! Maybe a stress ball next time?.” A second user wrote, “What could the poor woman do…the fellows are so corrupt…. obviously the anger…” And a third replied with a meme that played out the iconic scene from the film Welcome, where Nana Patekar’s character Uday, keeps telling himself, “Control, control Uday.”
