The charm of Bollywood transcends boundaries, and foreigners enjoying Bollywood music and dance often leaves netizens amused. A German woman named Nina, who refers to herself as a “Bollywood buff”, has taken the internet by storm with her dance videos.
Nina’s Instagram account documents her performances. Clad in a saree, she is seen smoothly dancing to the hook steps of the superhit Bollywood songs like Kajra Re, Om Shanti Om, and Desi Girl, among others.
In one of the videos, she shared her old photograph as a little girl who danced to ‘Kuch Na Kaho’ in school. She is an ardent fan of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, and Shah Rukh Khan. She also danced alongside actor Madhuri Dixit in 2020 and got a chance to speak with her. During this interaction, Nina was overwhelmed with joy as she says “I don’t have any words” to express her happiness.
In a video shared by the Official Humans of Bombay, Nina is seen dancing gracefully, while wearing Indian attire. In the video, she writes, “I was 9 when I saw Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and fell in love with India! I spent hours grooving to Hindi songs. Soo, I became a Bollywood buff.”
However, she was trolled online for her weight. The hateful response could not dampen her spirit and she continued loving her craft. “But 4 years ago, when I began posting my dance videos on the internet, some loved my performance, but some people trolled me for my weight. The hurtful comments did hurt me…But I chose to focus on love,” she told Humans of Bombay.
“I may be German but at heart, I’m a Desi girl,” she adds. She visited India in 2018 and was left teary-eyed. The visit seemed like being in a Bollywood movie to her and she also visited Shah Rukh Khan’s house in Mumbai.
Netizens were delighted with her story and encouraged her. A user commented, “Don’t mind the haters, Dance Away..” Another user wrote, “You’re slaying girl in desi look.” A third user wrote, “Talent has no limitations. You are a beautiful soul and your energy speaks for itself. Sending you love and positive vibes.”
