
D S Negi, a retired officer from the Indian Navy’s elite MARCOS unit, has displayed extraordinary heroism by rescuing a man from drowning in a canal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
A video of the incident was shared by Manan Bhatt, a Navy veteran. He wrote, “Negi’s act of courage extended beyond the rescued man. It serves as a powerful reminder to society that age and profession are not barriers to service and valour. His selfless act inspires us all to be ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed, regardless of the circumstances.”
In the video, a man is lifted from the ground and carefully placed into a rickshaw for transportation to the hospital. As it concludes with the revelation of D S Negi’s background in the Indian Navy, he receives applause. The young man’s father, moved to tears, expresses his gratitude with folded hands.

Bhatt also described him as embodying the unwavering commitment of a true Navy veteran. He said that Negi’s selfless act serves as a compelling reminder for everyone to reflect on their own social responsibilities.
