Upon seeing the video, social media was divided on gesture of gifting gloves.

During a practice session ahead of an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Punjab Kings, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Daryl Mitchell ended up smashing a fan’s iPhone with a powerful shot. Talk about the unexpected, right?

Mitchell was practising his throwdowns near the boundary line with fans cheering him on. Bam! One of his shots took an unexpected turn, slightly injuring a fan and damaging his phone. The batsman apologised to the crowd immediately.

But, here’s where it gets cool—to make up for the incident, Mitchell gifted his batting gloves to the CSK fan whose phone was shattered.

Mitchell’s sincere apology and the gesture that followed moved fans. Responding to a video that showed all that went down, a user, who appreciated Mitchell’s gesture, wrote, “It’s a Fan moment and only he can understand the value of it…”

However, many X users were not amused. One user wrote, “What will he do with the gloves?” Another user commented, “So now he will wear gloves while using new iPhone.” A third user said, “So he would exchange it and buy the new back cover?”
