After incessant rains in many parts of north India caused a flood-like situation in the past few days, there have been some unusual sightings on the road in the aftermath that sound unbelievable. A crocodile was seen crossing a road in Rajasthan’s Kota and a similar scene was witnessed in a residential area in Talala, Gir, Gujarat.
Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda shared both the videos on Twitter on July 19. A three-and-a-half-feet crocodile was seen crossing the Commerce College main road in Kota’s Talwandi area, stopping pedestrians and vehicles in their tracks, according to a PTI report.
Deputy conservator of forest, Kota, Jairam Pandey confirmed his staff was informed Tuesday night about the crocodile but said it disappeared into the drains. The city being located on the bank of Chambal river, which has a Gharial sanctuary, crocodiles occasionally enter nearby residential areas.
According to the report, flooding in a rainy brook in Sajidhra area could have brought the crocodile into the city, locals said, adding that such a sight was usual in Kota as it is on the bank of a river.
“Scary…Crocodile crossing the road in Kota, Rajasthan. Effects of Monsoon rains,” Nanda posted.
In Gujarat’s Talala, a huge crocodile could be seen moving slowly on the water-logged road. The 14-second video appears to have been shot by a passerby.
“Wow, but scary,” commented a user. “Looks like human have gone more into the wild area,” said another. “Hope they were rescued,” posted a third.
