India beat Afghanistan by eight wickets in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup group stage encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday. The match provided a lot of talking points for fans from Rohit Sharma’s blazing century to Jasprit Bumrah’s clinical bowling. However, another moment stole the limelight as well.
It occurred during a break in the 26th over of the match when Rashid Khan had dismissed Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli, who was on the other end, was seen exchanging pleasantries with Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and the duo seemed to have buried the hatchet. Naveen came over to Kohli and they shook hands. The duo then hugged each other as the former India captain gave a pat on his back. Exchanging a few words, the duo then gave a thumbs-up to each other. A video of their friendly moment on the field was posted on Instagram by the official ICC account.

“Great sportsmanship from both king kohli and Naveen,” a user commented. “Matter solved,” said another. “Suddenly all Indians will love Naveen,” another person wrote.

Earlier, Kohli even gestured towards the fans to stop mocking Naveen. When he was coming in to bowl, the crowd erupted with chants of “Kohli, Kohli” almost every time.
The bonhomie between the duo seems to be an attempt to end their spat that occurred during the IPL five months ago. The two players had an argument on the field during a match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
After the game, Naveen was asked about Kohli and the nice moment they shared. The player said: “He is a nice guy, a good player and we shook hands. It’s always in the ground, it was nothing outside the ground. People make it big. They need that stuff for their followers. He said we are done with that and I said yes we are done with it. We shook hands and hugged.”
