Calling conditions at Mount Everest “harsh” is like calling the ocean “damp”—a colossal understatement. This towering peak isn’t where you’d expect to find a consumer-grade drone zipping around. Yet, against all odds, the DJI Mavic 3, a drone made by Chinese drone maker DJI, has defied expectations.
From 3,500 metres above the base camp to the summit of the world’s highest mountain, the drone captured a breath-taking aerial view like never before. Reports indicate that this incredible feat was accomplished in collaboration with the Chinese photography platform 8KRAW, showcasing the DJI Mavic 3’s prowess.
In a video shared by @yicaichina on X, the drone glides over Everest’s snow-covered peaks, framed against a clear blue sky. Mountaineers are visible at one point, with the camera following the trail down to the base camp, where tents dot the landscape.
This video with stunning visuals has now garnered 192.4K views. Reacting to the video, one user said, “OK, I can scratch climbing Everest off my bucket list.” Another user wrote, “That is incredible.”
